Nolan Bushnell’s Top 3 Advice to Founders

The number one thing is to just do it. Not tomorrow, not next week, not next month, start working on it today. There is a problem in many cases in which people are wantrepreneurs as opposed to entrepreneurs.

What that means is that they are actively looking for something to block their process. The big one is ‘As soon as I raise money I’m going to be an entrepreneur’. When the fact, the trick is to start something that you can fund out of your wallet, and that you can do part-time while you’re employed and to start getting customers. So many people whether it be Michael Dell or event Atari, Atari started with no money. We put 250$ each in, and we could get the company started. We didn’t take a penny of venture capital until we were about 30 million USD in sales.

Do not think that you must get venture capital funding. Figure out a business that takes no money to start, and that’s a good way.
