Ann Winblad, Founding Partner of Hummer Winblad Venture Partners explains what type of mentor to look for.

Video transcript:

What type of mentor should I look for?

I don’t use the word mentor, I use the word challenger. You don’t want to find a mentor who is just going to make you feel good, that sounds like a family member, not a mentor. Your own parents, siblings, whatever, like to cheer you on. You want a mentor who can cheer you on but who is going to challenge you, who is going to really really make you think harder, even make you make adjustments to your business plan faster. So find a mentor who is a challenger.
