When should you start to think about acquisitions?

In terms of acquisitions, you have to think there are two parties in the mix. The company and the acquirer. I think from the company’s perspective, you want to think about a couple of different things. As an entrepreneur, what are you trying to achieve? You can be thinking about options all along, but what is the way to achieve your goal the best?

It might be inside another company or running it on your own. You start constantly evaluating that, asking around, talking to your board and others about that and your teammates. Also as an acquirer, you’re looking to see if this talent will come based on what they’ve done so far, extraordinary things they have done, if they came inside the company can you give them the space to keep running at it.

I think those are the kind of entrepreneurial acquisitions that are often very successful if the culture is right. Let people come into your company and let them do their amazing thing, not kind of thinking acquiring things, but acquiring a talented team to continue forward.
